Greenhouse gas emission scenarios in nine key non-G20 countries: An assessment of progress toward 2030 climate targets

چکیده
This study compares greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions projections in 2030 under current policies and those mitigation targets for nine key non-G20 countries, that collectively account about 5 % of global total today. These include the four largest fossil CO2 emitting Parties to UN climate convention pre- Paris Agreement (Iran, Kazakhstan, Thailand Ukraine) one land-use GHG emitters world (Democratic Republic Congo). Other countries assessed major economies their respective regions (Chile, Colombia, Morocco Philippines). In addition economy-wide projections, we also projected peak year progression per capita up 2030. Our are compared with previous studies. On emissions, Iran, Morocco, Ukraine were likely meet or significantly overachieve unconditional existing policies, while DRC would come very close targets. Kazakhstan Philippines need strengthen action targets, Chile recently raised its target ambition. Only Colombia have peaked by Per excluding increase all from 2010 levels 8 over 40 depending on country. While impact COVID-19 crisis is highly uncertain, our assessment achievement not change most when emission reductions estimated 2020 literature assumed remain The findings this highlight importance enhanced frequent progress-tracking outside G20, as currently done G20 members, ensure collective progress will become aligned pathways toward goals.

Integrated Energy and Materials Scenarios for Greenhouse Gas Emission Mitigation
GHG emission reduction is one of the key environmental problems for the sustainable development discussion in the 21st century, because it is closely related to energy use and bulk material flows. Concrete and binding targets for reduction of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions for Annex-1 countries are now agreed to in the Kyoto protocol. Emissions in the European Union will be reduced by 8% in the...

The Costs and Benefits of Integrating Non-Annex I Countries in International Greenhouse Gas Emission Trading Systems
One of the main mechanisms for implementing international Climate Change policies is the establishment of a carbon offset market that allows the transfer of emission reductions between countries. The rationale for this policy instrument, which is recognised in the Kyoto Protocol, is to facilitate global cost efficiency in climate change mitigation through a cost efficient allocation of reductio...
متن کاملModeling of Greenhouse Gas Emission from Livestock
The effects of climate change on humans and other living ecosystems is an area of on-going research. The ruminant livestock sector is considered to be one of the most significant contributors to the existing greenhouse gas (GHG) pool. However, there are opportunities to combat climate change by reducing the emission of GHGs from ruminants. Methane (CH4) and nitrous oxide (N2O) are emitted by ru...
